Ulla Stackmann, M.A., has completed her PhD at the department for American Studies at the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and is currently working on the publication of her dissertation. Her project, “Sonic Realness: Practices and Cultural Contexts of Postwar Audiopoetry (c. 1950s—1980s),” examines the historical and aesthetic development of audiopoetry in the US, focusing on commercial and avant-gardist spoken word labels. In the course of her PhD project, she has visited the US for research stays in New York, NY, and Cambridge, MA. She studied English Literature and Aesthetic Theory in Eichstätt, Munich, and Bologna.
Until August 2022, she was a doctoral fellow of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). Her research interests include aesthetic theory, intermedial studies, twentieth century literature, gender studies, and sound studies.
